The small knife is strong enough to be used for defense (in a pinch) without adding too much weight to the set. The light is small but very bright, with a push button end cap. the unit can be worn for use with the left or right hand. Allowing the hand to easily grab the unit and use the light while quieting the keys. When the light is no longer needed or your hand is needed elsewhere you can simply let go of the unit, the light will go off and it will not fall to the ground (it is around your neck)..
